Register:

Not sure if you are registered to vote in Minnesota?  You can check here.

To register to vote in Minnesota, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen

You will need your Minnesota driver’s license or Minnesota identification card number, or the last four numbers of your Social Security number.

Vote By Mail:

You are able to receive and return your ballot by mail prior to Election Day. You can apply at any time for an absentee ballot, but make sure you give election officials and yourself ample time to send your ballot and return it before Election Day. Ballots not received by Election Day will not be counted. You can return your ballot by mail or in person.

Find Your Polling Place:

The Minnesota Secretary of State Office has a polling place finder, where you can easily find your polling place. In addition to finding your polling place, you can find out other important voting information for your precinct, including a map with directions to your polling place and which candidates will be on your ballot.

Track Your Ballot:

It’s important to ensure your absentee ballot was counted. Just like tracking a package after purchasing something online, you can track your ballot and check its status to make sure your vote is counted. If for some reason it isn’t, one of the benefits of voting by mail is that you’ll still have time to vote in person.

What's on Your Ballot?:

Ballots often include a long list of people from various political parties running for various positions. Being an informed voter is important. Thankfully, there’s a tool for you to preview what’s going to be on your ballot. This gives you the option to research all of the candidates and decide who to vote for with confidence.
