Five Facts For the Fiftieth

written by: Marissa Ampe

We are celebrating 50 years of being the voice for Minnesota State university students! Our 50th Anniversary Gala will be held at the James J. Hill Center on Friday, November 17th at 7pm. If you were a former board member, intern, committee member, delegate, or volunteer we encourage you to come celebrate with us as your past work has helped to shape our organization. If you are currently involved with the organization as a partner or friend, we hope you will attend as well! If you still aren't convinced on attending our gala, read these five items and hopefully by the end we will have you convinced!

Five Facts to Know

one | we are also celebrating our scholarship programs

This year is the 50th Anniversary of Students United as well as the 30th anniversary of the Penny Fellowship, our largest endowment for student scholarships. We will also be raising money in honor of our JPS Leadership Scholarship, as we work toward our goal of providing a full four-year tuition scholarship award for future recipients. The games at the event will go to one of these two scholarship endowments.

two | we are serving amazing horderves

This is a reception style event. This means there won't be a sit down dinner, but rather different catering stations throughout the event! We will have something for everyone whether you are gluten free, vegetarian, etc. (You will a Mac and Cheese station and hand passed champagne to look forward to!)

three | we plan to do a little Reminiscing on the good ole' days

Our Director of Programs and Alumni Outreach is working diligently on reconnecting with former State Chairs to collect great stories and photos we hope to share with those attending the event. In addition, we will have toast throughout the evening from people who have impacted our organization.  If you have great Students United memories or photos you'd like to share with us please contact Carlee at cdiggins@studentsunited.org.

Four | we are putting in the time to make this event accessibly & Convenience for all of our guests

If you need any accommodations for the event (wheelchair access, ASL, etc.) please choose these options when registering for the gala. Although the event is hosted at an older venue we want to ensure it is assessable for all of our guests.

Parking is always a headache in the cities. However, there are parking ramps available! They are located at Victory Ramp (4th & Wabasha), Lawson Ramp (5th & St. Peter), and Lowry Ramp (5th & Wabasha). All ramps are connected by skyways and the Premier ticket includes valet parking. There will also be curb-side valet parking for $12. Or if you prefer street parking, metered street parking is available, and the Park Mobile app can make paying for street parking easier.

Coming from out of town? The Saint Paul Hotel has a Students United discount and is located across the street from the James J. Hill Center. More hotel information is available on our event webpage.

five | we are hosting the event at the beautiful James j. hill center

The event is at the James J. Hill Center in downtown St. Paul. This is a truly fantastic location for the event to be held. We plan to fill the center with 300 of our closest friends and partners.

All that is left to do is buy your tickets
