Hello Friends,
My name is Will Claussen and I am heading into my senior year at Winona State University with a major in Advertising and a minor in Professional Selling. I am both excited and honored to be working with Students United as the Events and Fundraising Intern.
I am originally from Mankato, Minnesota where I grew up and graduated from Mankato West High School with my three siblings. Hannah, my oldest sister, works in the NICU at the University of Minnesota Health Clinic. She is married to my brother in law Austin, who is a financial consultant. Evy is my other older sister. She works as a counselor at Prairie Care. Henry is my younger brother, who is a senior in high school. He has down syndrome, so he is everyone’s #1 buddy. He recently won Snow King at his school, and is an absolute joy to anyone that meets him. My mom, Beth, works in Accessibility Resources at Mankato State University. Finally, my father, Phil, is the Director of Social Services for Blue Earth County.
In my free time, I am almost always active. I enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, basically anything that keeps me on my feet. I am a student athlete at Winona State. I play wide receiver for the football team. Being a student athlete has instilled a work ethic in my life that I will forever cherish as it keeps me accountable and driven. It also keeps me very busy.
I am a part of a committee called SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) on campus, which coordinates various community services outreaches among our very own student athletes. This past year, we trick or treated for canned goods, and also took donations for Breast Cancer awareness. It’s a great committee that I’m proud to be active in and a part of.
I am super excited to be working with Students United because it’s a great opportunity for me to grow, while also using my skills and passion to make a difference along the way. As I mentioned earlier, everyone in my family has very compassionate and caring jobs. This is a great chance for me to follow suit, and enjoy myself while doing so.
