Hey Everyone,

My name is Connor Newby and I am the office assistant for Students United. I am very excited to start this new opportunity and learn many new skills. I know students are not always heard as much as they wish to be, and it is one of my life long goals to ensure that all students feel heard and understood. A little about myself, I grew up in Ramsey Minnesota but then moved to Bemidji Minnesota to attend Bemidji State University. I originally went to BSU to study medicine, but I quickly learned that I was not cut out to be a doctor. After a bit of soul searching, I found my passion for helping students and wanting to see students succeed. I then decided to pursue a degree in psychology and to one day become an administrator at a university. In May I was honored to receive my bachelors degree in psychology. I will be attending St. Cloud State University in the fall in order to start working on my master's degree in higher education administration. After I receive my masters degree I hope to start working at a university where I can continue to help students succeed and achieve their goals and one day I hope to become the president of a university.

While attending BSU I was a Residential Assistant for four years, a part of the bird watching club, a member of the puzzle club, and I was on the student senate for two years. I even had the pleasure of serving as the student senate president for a year. It was through the presidential role that I had the honor of serving as one of the board members for Students United. While serving on the board I learned even more about how to help students and some of the issue's students are facing throughout our state. It is because of this passion that I have for student success that I am beyond enthusiastic to start working in this new position!  Some of my goals in this position are to learn more about how I work as a professional, how to better assist students in their lives and learn more about the problem's students are facing in their lives.

When I am not working, I enjoy playing video games of all kinds as well as going for bike rides around the area. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and trying new restaurants and exploring new areas. I am also starting to get into rock climbing and learning more about that world. If I'm not doing any of those things, I'm typically helping take care of some foster dogs and assisting in making sure they find good homes. I am excited to be a part of the Students United team again and I look forward to all the awesome adventures that come with it!
