Welcome, Kendra!

Hello Everyone!

I'm Kendra Draeger. I use she/her/hers pronouns. I am very excited to serve as the Students United Treasurer/Secretary for this year. I recently graduated from Bemidji State University on May 4th, 2023 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology, Cellular & Molecular Biology as well as minors in Chemistry and Political Science. I am currently starting my first year as a graduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Here I will be pursuing my Master's Degree in Biology/Biochemistry.

During my time at Bemidji State, I served on the BSU Student Senate. I joined student senate my sophomore year as a senator and in the spring semester I was appointed to chair one of the senate committees. My passion for helping all students achieve success drove me to run for Student Body President in my junior year. So, I was elected student body president (2021-2022) and had the opportunity to serve as the board member for BSU at Students United.  My senior year, I ran for Vice President and got re-appointed to the Board of Directors for Students United. Ever since then, I haven't been able to leave this organization and the work we do and accomplish.

I have a strong passion for menstrual equity in higher education. This past year, I was fortunate enough to be able to testify in front of the Minnesota House and Senate Higher Education Committees to tell them why having free, accessible, and quality menstrual products on university campuses is important. Being able to accomplish goals like this is why I work with others to advocate for our students. I know that no matter where my career or life takes me, I will always strive to advocate for my fellow students and peers.

Besides being passionate about higher education advocacy, I also enjoy a good show on Netflix, reading fiction romance books, and spending time with my cat, Sam, and my doggo, Sky. If you have a good Netflix recommendation, send it my way!

I am thrilled to continue my journey with Students United and advocate on the behalf of students!
