Welcome, Marwah!

Hello everyone!

I am Marwah Asif, and I use She/Her/Hers pronouns. I am incredibly honored and thankful to serve as State Chair for Students United. I am a current senior at St. Cloud State University, studying Anthropology and Political Science. I am a Pakistani-American Muslim woman and a first-generation college student. Being able to serve students and fight for social justice is the backbone of my work now and in the future.

My past few years at St. Cloud State University have been amazing. I have served as the President of the Muslim Student Association, as well as a member of the Pakistani Student Association and the International Student Association. My work with student government started with serving as an At-Large Senator and then as the Constitution Chair. I have also served as the SCSU Student Government Association Vice President. This past year, I had the opportunity to be a Community Leader Fellow with Students United and served as the System and University Relations Intern.

Student advocacy in higher education must promote equity and inclusivity. We must strive to address systemic barriers that marginalized communities face within our education system. Our efforts aim to dismantle discrimination, promote diverse representation, and create a more inclusive and welcoming campus environment for all students, regardless of their backgrounds.

In my free time, I try to do everything possible. From reading to Lego building to gaming, I keep myself occupied and have fun. I was born and raised in New York City, so my love for exploring and food is high on my priority list. All in all, I am very excited to fight for students and our right to be successful without constantly living in a state of fear or stress when trying to build our future.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
