My name is Pierre Young, and I am a student enrolled at Metropolitan State University. I am currently studying in the Studio Bachelor of Arts program on a 2.52 GPA level. I want to be an officer in Students United because I want to be a good example of what a student leader is. It all about hearing student voice on what do they need to change in within our schools and tuition. The Treasurer position will be a great position for me to understand the economics of Minnstate school systems. Tuition is a main factor of how we look at the logistics of the entire system of Colleges and Universities. To understand tuition is one thing, but bureaucracy is another that we must fight as organization for students to get what they want. We need to start by asking questions such as why does it increase or decrease? These are questions that students must take the initiative. My understanding of the Student United position is to unite students to come together during these challenging times and what they need to do to succeed. My goals are to work along with other students on the Executive Board is to create a plan that will envision to help schools statewide and to be an advocate to be a voice for students. I have been involved in a lot of student organizations serving as an officer for Metro State Student Association, Student Newspaper & the University Activities Board. In the past 6 years, education has built my confidence to inspire other how to be a student leader. I also currently serve as an AmeriCorps member in the Community Technology Member project that other members has inspired me to be a great leader to teach other about technology.
