My name is Priscilla and I’m primarily a student at Bemidji State University. I’m applying to serve as a Student United Officer because of my continued interest in student government and student advocacy. I am also looking to expand my skill set by working directly with University students like myself in understanding and advocating for issues that affect them. I’m passionate about the academic and social well-being of students. The position of Vice Chair interests me for a few reasons. One important reason is the direct involvement with the scholarship & Alumni advisory board. In recent years, I have picked up a strong interest in fundraising & mutual aid designed to help individuals be their best self by providing monetary support. I will be a great learner and asset in advancing fundraising efforts at Students United.I also want to keep following the work of Equity 2030 happening on the system level. From the very beginning of my student government days, I have been passionate about closing the terrible achievement gaps that exist in our state. Being a Student United Officer will give me the chance to continue to advocate for underserved students and hold the system office accountable to its equity related priorities. Finally, the pandemic has really reinforced for me the importance of community.I believeStudentsUnited is a great place to build community for ALL students where they can build essential life skills, feel empowered and be seen. And I want to belong to and contribute to such a community. After 4 years of student leadership, I choose to not hang my cap and distance myself from this very important work, instead it is imperative that I spend my remaining time in college advocating for students as much as possible.
