Welcome, Joy!

By Joy Krosschell (she/her), Development Intern

Hi, everyone!

I am Joy Krosschell, my preferred pronouns are she/her, and I’m the new development intern here at Students United! I’m currently in my last semester at Southwest Minnesota State University and will be graduating this May with a B.A in Psychology and a minor in Management.

I believe an important aspect of who I am stems from where I’ve lived. Although I was born in Nebraska, I’ve also lived in Washington, Minnesota, and spent my first year of university studying and living in Manitoba, Canada. What I learned in that first year of university made me realize just how different an educational system could be and that our current system is not the only option. My overall goal in life is to create a way to make higher education easier to achieve, which is why I am beyond grateful to have this position at Students United!

The main focus of the development intern is to inform Minnesotan students about the scholarship opportunities we have and to increase the organizations’ outreach of those opportunities. I know from personal experience how overwhelming it is to search for scholarships, which is why I’m here-- to help make it easier for students to know about the scholarships we offer, the requirements for them, and the application process of them. I look forward to making connections with local Minnesota communities and, beyond that, I am excited to learn and grow with my fellow interns and coworkers at Students United.

Outside of this internship, I spend my time working on assignments, hanging out with my dog (a 10 y/o dachshund named Beanie!), hiking, and being involved in my university’s Theatre Department and Drama Club.
